The fine print
- What this compares. Your current average power bill of $399 a month against your solar payment of $275.00 a month, over 25 years. Utility escalated at 7.5% per year, solar at 2.99% per year.
- Still connected to the grid. You are still connected to the utility grid and would be expected to pay a small fixed monthly rate, considered the standard connection fee.
- Dominion Energy rates are moving. Virginia regulators approved a $565.7 million rate increase for 2026, about $11.24 a month for a typical residential customer, with a further $2.36 a month in 2027. It is the first base rate increase since 1992, driven partly by demand from data centers. Past increases do not guarantee future ones.
- This is an estimate, not a contract. Production, rates and savings are projections. Nothing here is a guarantee.
